Defanging Snobbery at The New Wine School of Southern Italy

Let’s face it: The world of wine has historically attracted a lot of snobbery.
We aim to change that.

That’s why we play The Game.

The Game at The New Wine School of Southern Italy is played like this: all participants, staff and faculty are given five cards, called ‘I Modesti’, or modesty cards. Every time you catch anyone saying anything snobby, you can ‘bust’ them, claiming one of their cards. The person with the most amounts of cards at the end of the week wins ‘Il Modestone’, The Most Modest trophy, accompanied by several nice gifts that are anything but modest themselves.

It may sound silly but it’s a lot of fun. It also maintains the right spirit of The New Wine School of Southern Italy: a fascinating subject in a fascinating place, both approached in a fresh and modern way.
