THE COOKING SCHOOL

Lecce Classes |  Castle Classes | Day Classes | Special Classes | Pricing

2012 COURSE DESCRIPTION:
We have two types of full-week classes, which are available throughout most of the year and are offered according to a pre-set schedule (see Calendar). Our full-week classes are:
Lecce Classes. Our most typical and most popular class is a small-group (7 students or less), full-week course held at our charming school in Lecce.

Castle Classes. A few times a year, we will have some special courses that are held at a wonderful Mediterranean Castle a few kilometers from the Adriatic, RIGHT IN THE CENTRE OF A SMALL SOUTHERN ITALIAN TOWN!

Playing a very active role with this small town is the driving force of our all our castle weeks, as well as a theme for the week, such as our school’s birthday or our new wine programme. See the central pull-down for more details. Pricing info below.

Wondering which course is best for you, a week at the Castle or ‘La Settimana Tipica’?

"Specializing in small, intimate hands-on classes based on personalised instruction and individual attention."

SPECIAL WEEKS:
There are no “typical weeks” at THE AWAITING TABLE, what with seasonal variations in food, local festivals, etc. However, we often host special guests or accommodate special events which are so unique that they deserve their own category, and, upon occasion, pricing. In 2011, we are proud to be offering three very special and very unique courses available no where else:
Terronia: the new wine school of Southern Italy Held at the castle. See calendar page for dates and details.
THE AWAITING TABLE BIRTHDAY PARTY. Held at the castle. Our birthday each year is a high point, but it’s also when we make the tomato sauce for the year (see gallery for pictures). We put on some fun music, crack up some farmer’s wine and get busy canning. At night we jump into the Baron’s pool, leaving a grease slick across the surface of the water. Easily the most fun of the year. Space is limited.

DAY, WEEKEND, OR CUSTOM CLASSES:
Upon request, we also offer Day Classes or Custom Classes (built around your special event). Our Day, Weekend or Custom Classes are only available upon request during any time not already scheduled. If interested in a Day, Weekend or Custom course, please contact us and we will gladly work with you to create a special event just for you and your group. Pricing info below.

DAY CLASSES. Available upon request. Typically for Day Classes, we’ll meet under the statue of Sant’ Oronzo at 10.a.m. and then start the day with coffee (and/or Granite) at Gracious Antonio’s. We’ll do an overview of the day, answering any questions you may have. We’ll head on to the market to meet our vendors, Simone our green grocer, Sandro our butcher, and on.We’ll head back to the school and make fresh pasta together in the stable kitchen, for both lunch and dinner. We’ll prepare lunch together, and depending on the season, either eat in the stable, the wine cellar or the garden. We’ll give you a break, for a nap back at your room and then meet in the main piazza for a talk about the duomo, Santa Croce and the city’s main square. We’ll head back to the school and prepare dinner, the excellent local wine flowing the entire time. We’ll decorate the wine cellar with a hundred brass candles and really do up dinner, sitting down at around eight, but going late. And then we’ll walk you back to the short walk back to the city’s main square.

Occasionally, we will add Special Classes to our normal calendar. These classes are usually set around special guests or special events and are usually announced in our newsletters.
