2010 COURSE DESCRIPTION:

We have two types of full-week classes, which are available throughout most of the year and are offered according to a pre-set schedule (see Calendar). Our full-week classes are:
Lecce Classes. Our most typical and most popular class is a small-group (6 students or less), full-week course held at our charming facility in Lecce.
Castle Classes. A few times a year, we will have some special courses that are held at a wonderful Mediterranean Castle a few kilometers from the Adriatic. These courses will accommodate up to 24 people and tend to be lively affairs, with much hugging, wine, and raucous laughter. These are great for small groups or singles traveling alone as you will get a great opportunity to meet many wonderful people from all around the world. In 2010, we will have two special events at the castle. From September 12 – 18, we will have our annual Birthday Party at the Castle. Then, from November 7 – 13, we will have a very special and unique Olive Oil class at the castle.
Pricing info below.

Wondering which course is best for you, a week at the Castle or ‘La Settimana Tipica’?

"Specialising in small, intimate hands-on classes based on personalised instruction and individual attention."

SPECIAL WEEKS:
There are no “typical weeks” at THE AWAITING TABLE, what with seasonal variations in food, local festivals, etc. However, we often host special guests or accommodate special events which are so unique that they deserve their own category, and, upon occasion, pricing. In 2010, we are proud to be offering three very special and very unique courses available no where else:
WINE COURSE. From October 10 – 16, we will be offering a very special course focusing on the amazing wines of the Salento. The Wine Course will take place at our facilities in Lecce. Please see course description here. Pricing info below.
OLIVE OIL COURSE. From November 7 – 13, we will be offering a very special course focusing on Olive Oil. The Olive Course will take place at the Castle. Please see course description here. Pricing info below.
THE AWAITING TABLE BIRTHDAY PARTY. From September 12 - 18, we celebrate our own birthday. Our birthday celebration is like most ordinary weeks, just bigger and a bit more festive. Often we’ll roast a pig. Sometimes, we have a local La Pizzica band (Salento folk music) come play. The specifics are different every year, but it is always fun. Our annual birthday party always takes place at the Castle. Pricing info below.

DAY, WEEKEND, OR CUSTOM CLASSES:
Upon request, we also offer Day Classes or Custom Classes (built around your special event). Our Day, Weekend or Custom Classes are only available upon request during any time not already scheduled. If interested in a Day, Weekend or Custom course, please contact us and we will gladly work with you to create a special event just for you and your group. Pricing info below.

DAY CLASSES. Available upon request. Typically for Day Classes, we’ll meet under the statue of Sant’ Oronzo at 10.a.m. and then start the day with coffee (and/or Granite) at Gracious Antonio’s. We’ll do an overview of the day, answering any questions you may have. We’ll head on to the market to meet our vendors, Simone our green grocer, Sandro our butcher, and on.We’ll head back to the school and make fresh pasta together in the stable kitchen, for both lunch and dinner. We’ll prepare lunch together, and depending on the season, either eat in the stable, the wine cellar or the garden. We’ll give you a break, for a nap back at your room and then meet in the main piazza for a talk about the duomo, Santa Croce and the city’s main square. We’ll head back to the school and prepare dinner, the excellent local wine flowing the entire time. We’ll decorate the wine cellar with a hundred brass candle sticks and really do up dinner, sitting down at around nine, but going late, probably after midnight. And then we’ll walk you back to your room.

Occasionally, we will add Special Classes to our normal calendar. These classes are usually set around special guests or special events and are usually announced in our newsletters.
