An
Overview of The Castle Weeks at a Glance:
A Different sort of Week.
On
several special occasions throuought the year, a local friend
loans us his ancestral home, a beautiful and aristocratic castle
not far from the Adriatic, in the deep, deep south of Italy.
And while our normal weeks tend towards intimate instruction
and lots of personal attention, our castle weeks tend to towards
large, loud and laughing affairs, where we roast entire animals
on the castle grounds, spend evenings in front of the massive
stone fire place and dine in great numbers in one of the castle’s
main halls, a human wave of clinking goblets running down a
27 metre-long table. With thoroughly modern amenities, the
castle is a genuinely unique place for large groups to enjoy
a special event.
The
castle is not an alternative to our local leccese B and B-
it’s too far away, but rather an entirely different
type of week.
The
castle sleeps up to 35 people and functions as a modern
Bed and Breakfast the rest of the year. And always, we
meet in Lecce and then we handle all transportation.
We’ll
pick fruit of the trees on the massive castle grounds,
and depending on the season, turn them into limoncello,
marmalade or even the region’s famous quince dessert,
la cotognata. We still cook together, still make pasta
everyday in one of the castle’s seven kitchens.
